The Thernström-Strand Family
A Swedish family history spanning 400 years
The Thernström-Strand family – A predominantly middle-class history, but with elements from all four traditional estates: burghers, farmers, clergy and nobility. Several branches have grown together, often through marriages within the extended family, and over the years the large family tree has narrowed to a smaller number of individuals. There is a rich collection of photographs to share, while the chronicles and family trees on this site also seek to clarify the different branches and their histories. These are not stories of the great lords, but of those who lived and worked beneath them – women as well as men. People who carried on regardless of the king's name, whether he was Swedish or Danish, or which political faction held power.
